The benefits of konjac

Konjac is an Asian plant that has been used in Japan for centuries in food, but also for daily facial care: the sponge made from the fibers of the root has a cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing action , and it has the particularity of adapting to all types of skin, even the most fragile, at all ages.
It's no coincidence that Japanese women also use it to clean their babies' delicate skin!

Special features and beneficial effects for the skin

The konjac sponge has the particularity of being very dry in its natural state, with a texture that resembles that of pumice stone, which may surprise you when you use one for the first time. It swells in water, becoming soft, smooth, and elastic.
It is therefore always used after being previously soaked in lukewarm water and wrung out , with or without cleansing product depending on your skin type (see our advice at the bottom of the page).

It should be washed regularly with warm water and a little neutral soap. In the absence of hydration, it hardens upon contact with air and returns to its original size and texture within two or three days.
A sponge used daily will last for about 3 months. It should be replaced if it starts to develop holes or crumble.

Some tips for using the konjac sponge properly, depending on your skin type:
➤ The konjac sponge is always used on skin that has already been cleansed , if you use foundation or blush: its action is cleansing and not makeup removing.
➤ If your skin is dry : Do not use the sponge more than 3 times a week. You can skip the cleanser, but then supplement the natural hydration provided by the konjac with your usual cream or treatment.
➤ If your skin is combination or oily : you can use the sponge daily. It's best to use a small amount of cleansing product (no more, the sponge lathers a lot), but additional moisturizing is not necessary.
➤ If your skin is prone to acne : the sponge will help you clean your skin well every day, limiting the proliferation of bacteria responsible for spots.
